The Seasonal Worker Program in Gangwon Province assists farmers in the agricultural sector to fill labor shortages during busy farming season by allowing legal hiring of foreign workers for a certain period of time.

Quota per local government

The total number of seasonal workers per local government in Korea is determined after comprehensively assessing local governments’ management capacity, preventive measures against human rights violation and absconders, etc.

Types of Crops Available

Crops acknowledged by the Ministry of Justice that require intensive work for 90 days or 5 months as there are seasonal factors.

Employment Duration & Visa Type

90 days : C-4 Visa

5 months : E-8 Visa

Medical Insurance for Seasonal Workers

In order to help seasonal workers get affordable health care, Gangwon Province signed a MOU with the Jubliee Medical Insurance (JMI), a civilian medical institution, and offers a medical insurance program specially designed for seasonal workers.

Membership Fee

Members are required to pay the registration and membership fees in advance depending on their duration of stay

3. Reimbursement for pharmacy expenses (prescription drugs only)
